With a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, computer science, or a related field, you should apply if you are an exceptional candidate. The best candidates will be experts in computational imaging with a theory focus (algorithms for image reconstruction, including calibration and uncertainty quantification), with a focus on applications (from astronomy to medical imaging, specifically radio-astronomy, magnetic resonance, or ultrasound imaging), and/or a theory focus (deep learning, optimization, or Bayesian sampling methods).

The chosen contenders will create state-of-the-art deep learning models for multi-scale CO2 flow modeling in underground reservoirs. There are two areas of particular relevance. pore-to-core scale upscaling and reactive flow processes, respectively. The chosen candidates will also contribute to a variety of AI applications for understanding subsurface flows, such as (a) stochastic production of porous media realizations using deep generative models. (b) employing a variety of architectures and deep learning to predict properties Effective optimization methods for implicit neural models with physics constraints (e) Deep learning-based proxy modeling with physics-based losses (f) Effective numerical solver-deep learning model coupling for hybrid CO2 flow modeling.

We are looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) with knowledge of electronic signal processing and/or analysis of animal spatial distributions. The chosen candidate will receive training in either spatial distribution modeling or acoustic signal processing. After that, the applicant will analyze the high spatial resolution records to calculate fish density as a function of the angle of separation from the AMS and other ecologically significant variables like fish size and school statistics (number, size, depth, density, etc.). Strong organizational, large-dataset handling and analytical skills are necessary for the position, preferably in a statistical programming language like R or Matlab. The position starts on September 4, 2023, or shortly thereafter, and it is full-time for a fixed term of nine months.

For the purpose of testing the integration of the Smartrawl components, we are looking for a highly motivated Research Associate (RA) with maritime experience. The chosen candidate will implement the system in the lab and at sea and receive training in marine sciences and/or marine engineering. Working with engineers and other researchers on the project, they will be expected to examine the generated camera datasets in order to enhance the system’s performance. Strong organizational, large-dataset management and analytical skills are required for the position, preferably in a statistical programming language like R, Matlab, or Python.

The loss of biodiversity is happening too quickly. Many of these reductions are being caused by a number of stressors, with freshwater (FW) habitats being particularly affected. Ephemeral FWs, like as ponds and marshes, are very biodiverse and highly vulnerable to a variety of environmental stresses. Since amphibians are highly adapted to these ecosystems, they have been an important part of the fauna of these habitats for at least 350 million years. Wetland health is essential to the climate issue, notably in relation to the high levels of methane generated by human-impacted systems, making amphibians and wetlands some of the most seriously threatened Phyla/ecosystems globally.
