- Doctoral degree requirements must be completed by January 1, 2021.
- Extended eligibility term till January 2020 for applicants who experienced major professional pauses due to parental, medical, or family-related duties, or research-related slowdowns/shutdowns induced by the Covid-19 outbreak within two years of completing their PhD.
- Ph.D. completion is required for international candidates prior to the start date. Ph.D. completion within 6 months of a start date for Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
- There will be no other Postdoctoral Fellowships running concurrently with the Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellowship. Before receiving the grant, you must resign from your present Postdoctoral Fellowship.
- A bachelor’s degree in a natural sciences or engineering (NSE) discipline, such as computer science or mathematics. NSE Discipline information can be found at NSERC Research Subject Codes.
- Supervisory qualification: At the University of Toronto, you can work full-time or on a status-only basis. A co-supervisor with AI competence is required if the primary supervisor lacks AI expertise.
