Job Description:
- Receiving a grant from the CRIS Cancer Foundation to map and simulate the tumor microenvironment of rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), a soft tissue sarcoma that affects children.
- Evaluating cutting-edge treatment approaches for RMS tumors.
- Working in tandem with Dr. Jonathan West (UoS) and Professor Janet Shipley of the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR).
- Creating near-patient co-culture models with patient-derived material from RMS patients.
- Evaluating immune-boosting and tumor microenvironment targeted techniques.
- Exhibiting independence in the planning and execution of projects, the writing of manuscripts, and grant proposal participation.
- Encouraged to create grant applications in order to promote professional advancement.

Application Requirements:

- PhD in a pertinent field and a BSc or MSc in a closely related biological study (cell biology/immunology, for example).
- It would be helpful to have prior experience with patient-derived cancer co-culture models.
- Strong proficiency with molecular biology methods.
- Knowledge of 3D cell culture and organoid procedures, primary tissue explantation, and cancer cell culture.
- Outstanding communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

- Oversight of graduate and undergraduate pupils.
