The research will be carried out at Lund University’s Department of Chemistry, which is part of both the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering (LTH). With instruction in all fields of chemistry and research by globally prominent research groups ranging from basic to applied research, the Department of Chemistry offers a unique strength for Sweden. The PhD student will be part of a collaborative network of students and researchers at Lund University’s Division of Physical Chemistry. Associate Prof. Felix Roosen-Runge’s research group will be in charge of the project. The research group focuses on protein structure and dynamics, protein diffusion, phase behavior in protein solutions, and assembly processes employing scattering techniques.

The department also contains the latest equipment required for current molecular research. There are around 500 full-time students engaged in undergraduate courses. We investigate statistical thermodynamics, suspension dynamics, and quantum chemistry in the section on Computational Chemistry. While we place a major emphasis on basic research and model creation, our approaches have been applied to a wide range of systems including Life sciences, clay, cement, seawater, dental environments, wood fibers, and so on.
