PhD position title: PhD scholarship in Salt Hydrate Thermochemical Waste Heat Recovery, Storage, and Upgrading (DTU Construct)
If you are starting a career as a scientist and want the greatest possible basis for realizing your hopes and objectives, it is right in front of you. We are searching for a motivated PhD candidate in thermal energy systems with experience in programming, optimization, and dynamic energy system analysis. This post is part of the Horizon Europe-funded “TechUPGRADE” project and part of the Alliance PhD program-funded “RESTUP” project in collaboration with TU/e Netherlands. You will be part of a highly motivated team that includes a senior project manager and several other PhD and postdoc researchers, and you will focus on cutting-edge and practical research to solve the problems of energy systems towards sustainability.
Deadline: December 4, 2023
(02) PhD Degree—Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: PhD scholarship in Prescriptive Analytics for District Heating Networks at DTU Engineering Technology
District heating network fault management and maintenance/renovation practises are now restricted to reactive or preventative measures. These wasteful practises jeopardise the functioning of contemporary district heating systems. Furthermore, many district heating systems’ ageing infrastructure needs ongoing refurbishment. The current approach to refurbishment planning, however, is unsatisfactory and lacks a proactive strategy. Addressing these issues is critical for increasing district heating system performance and dependability. We have a PhD student position available at DTU Engineering Technology to work on building a Prescriptive Analytics tool for District Heating Networks that addresses these difficulties.
Deadline: December 8, 2023
(03) PhD Degree – Fully Funded

PhD position title: DTU Electro – Ultra-Low Noise Laser Sources for Quantum Communication
We are looking for a PhD applicant who is driven, curious, and outgoing who has a strong background in laser physics, fibre sensing, or fiber-optic/quantum communication. Extensive knowledge in machine learning, digital signal processing, and experimental work is preferred. The project’s purpose is to investigate reinforcement learning in order to provide feedback control that will allow single and multi-frequency laser sources to operate with quantum noise limits. The scope of the project will include both algorithm development and experimental implementations. A tight partnership with NKT Photonics is planned throughout the project.
Deadline: December 21, 2023
(07) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: PhD scholarship in Computer Vision with Deep Learning for Human-Machine Collaboration – DTU Compute
Learning image recognition models necessitates massive quantities of data, particularly when using data-hungry deep neural networks. Humans must manually and passively annotate this data. This labelling technique is one of the most critical phases in a machine learning pipeline, but it is time-consuming, costly, and prone to noise, resulting in incorrect labels. Through multimodal labelling and learning, we want to foster greater human-machine cooperation at all levels of the learning process. The purpose of this project is to use data from several modalities that naturally arise alongside online photos to help with image annotation. You will create cutting-edge multimodal self-supervision models with human-in-the-loop text supervision. Associate Professor (DTU) will oversee this PhD study.
