07 Postdoctoral Fellowships at the University of Calgary in Canada Fully Funded

The postdoctoral scholar will conduct patient-oriented research on pancreatic cancer, use mixed methods research (quantitative and qualitative) to assess the health outcomes of cancer survivors using administrative health data and assess decision-making along the cancer trajectory using scoping reviews, surveys, and/or focus groups. Dr. Winson Cheung, Professor and Lead for Health Services Research for Oncology in Alberta, and Dr. Colleen Cuthbert, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Nursing and Canada Research Chair in Patient and Family Centred Cancer Survivorship, will supervise the postdoctoral scholar’s work. Health services researchers Drs. Cuthbert and Cheung are working on projects that are broadly concerned with cancer patients’ health outcomes.

Qualified applicants are encouraged to submit applications for two three-year postdoctoral associate positions in cryptography. The appointed candidates will be supervised by Professors Rei Safavi-Naini, Barry Sanders, and Daniel Oblak. Knowledge of quantum physics is very advantageous, and expertise in cryptography is a requirement. The positions’ primary area of research is quantum-resistant and quantum-enabled cryptography, and they are supported by an NSERC Alliance Quantum Consortia grant titled “Accelerating the transition to quantum-resistant cryptography.” It is necessary to have a Ph.D. and to demonstrate proficiency in research. Successful applicants must continue to conduct active research and take part in grant-funded research projects with partners from academia and industry. Depending on factors like experience, the yearly compensation falls between $55,000 and $65,000 (CAD).

We are looking for a motivated and dedicated postdoctoral researcher to oversee an interdisciplinary research project to create a training program for young people interested in participating in healthcare research and to work on the patient engagement agenda. The chosen applicant will collaborate closely with scientists from the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine, Alberta SPORU SUPPORT Patient Engagement team, and Continuing Education PaCER operations team. reporting to Dr. Maria J. Santana (Department of Paediatrics), the primary investigator (PI). The position calls for independent analysis and research conducted within a team setting in a dynamic environment with frequently various stakeholders.

A highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar with extensive experience in electrical and/or biomedical engineering is wanted by Dr. Aaron Phillips’ research team. An advantage would be knowing cardiovascular and/or neurological physiology. Understanding the sympathetic nervous system and how it adapts to the loss of supraspinal control (i.e., spinal cord injury) is the study team’s main goal. The group then uses this information to design and create novel medicines, mostly utilizing neurotechnology. Helping to understand the circuits underpinning blood pressure regulation and blood pressure stability, which builds on our study published in Nature 2021, will be a major emphasis of the research linked with this post.

To help the research team achieve its objectives, the postdoctoral associate’s main duties include providing subject matter expertise and team operational support. A national and worldwide level of publications in the field of the research will be led by or in collaboration with the postdoctoral associate. Using judgment and making decisions throughout the research projects, adhering to the PI’s rules and regulations, and working closely with the research team every day are all necessary for success in the position.

Enhanced Mineralization (EM) technologies’ techno-economic assessment (TEA), life cycle assessment (LCA), and system-level design and optimization will be the main areas of attention for the chosen candidates. They will collaborate closely with the project investigators to translate early-stage technology concepts into functional systems and evaluate the potential environmental and economic performance of such systems. The project investigators have expertise in the science and engineering of EM technologies as well as LCA and TEA of emerging technologies. They will mostly carry out modeling studies, but they will also have the chance to work with scientists who are doing in-lab investigations. They will also have the chance to advise graduate (PhD and MSc) students engaged in comparable projects.
