List of Fully Funded Scholarships:
(01) Ph.D. Degree in Soft and Biodegradable Sensor Technology:
Ph.D. position summary/title: Ph.D. in Soft and Biodegradable Sensor Technology
Are you a driven individual who enjoys working on cutting-edge sensing technologies that help to ensure sustainable agri-food production? Are you a team player who enjoys working in a multidisciplinary environment? Then apply for our open post ‘Ph.D. in Soft and Biodegradable Sensor Technology’!
Deadline: Open until filled
(02) Ph.D. Scholarship in Atmospheric Sciences:
Ph.D. position summary/title: Atmospheric Sciences – Deep convection dynamics
We are looking for a motivated Ph.D. student with a meteorology/atmospheric sciences background to do fundamental research on cloud dynamics in deep convective clouds above the Amazon rainforest. You will study observational data from the international aircraft field campaigns ACRIDICON-CHUVA and Cafe Brazil, as well as numerical simulations utilizing the Large Eddy Simulations (LES) code MicroHH, in this research. The goal of this research is to gain a better understanding of the processes that regulate the properties of convective downdrafts, such as time, position, and strength, as well as the implications for cloud dynamics.
Deadline: 12 June 2023
(03) Fully Funded Scholarships:
Ph.D. position title: The carrying capacity of low-trophic aquaculture in the North Sea is being investigated.
Wageningen University, the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ), and others are leading the initiative. The project’s goal is to generate knowledge on production systems and modeling at the ecosystem level so that the mussel and seaweed sectors can innovate their production methods and farm organization, as well as scale-up nature-positive circular low-trophic aquaculture production in the North Sea. The consortium involved will consider the interrelationship between economic and environmental outcomes and will work with diverse user groups such as nature conservation to understand the carrying capacity of seaweed and mussel production in coastal and offshore environments.
Deadline: 12 June 2023
(04) Ph.D. Degree in Designing sustainable waste conversion value chains:
Ph.D. position title: Designing sustainable waste conversion value chains using decision support models
Wageningen University’s Operations Research and Logistics division is looking for Ph.D. aspirants to work on a large national multi-disciplinary project sponsored by the Dutch Enterprise Agency (RVO). The ReBBloCS project’s main purpose is to maximize utilization and add value to what is now deemed waste for a variety of industrial waste streams.
Deadline: 5th June 2023
(05) Scholarships on machine learning-based prediction of protein-protein interactions:
Ph.D. position summary: Machine learning-based prediction of protein-protein interactions
Two Ph.D. candidates will collaborate on the NWO-M2 project ‘Machine learning-based prediction of transcription factor protein-protein interactions’ to build a robust computational method for predicting protein-protein interactions of TFs with complex evolutionary histories. The approach will be based on the MADS-domain transcription factor family, which controls crucial plant processes like flowering and fruit development. One of the Ph.D. candidates will work in the Laboratory for Molecular Biology’s Bioinformatics Group, while the other will work in the Plant Developmental Systems Group to conduct wet-lab research to learn more about the unique requirements for protein-protein interactions.
Deadline: 5th June 2023
(06) Ph.D. Positions Elucidating specificity determination in plant transcription factor complex formation:
Ph.D. position summary: Ph.D. research into the determination of specificity in plant transcription factor complex development
Transcription factor proteins (TFs) influence biological processes by interacting in a variety of ways to regulate gene expression. However, it is still unclear how the specificity of protein-protein interactions is encoded in protein sequence and structure, and how this dictates which protein combinations with distinct functions can be created. Finally, this understanding is critical for steering and controlling biological processes, as well as investigating the causes of human diseases and governing modern plant breeding procedures.
Deadline: 5th June 2023
(07) Ph.D. Degree in urban greening and health:
Ph.D. position title: Doctoral Candidate in urban greening and health, Marie Skłodwska-Curie Actions
The research will investigate the correlations between objective health data and the availability of green space where people live, as well as the health advantages that may be expected from greening residential neighborhoods, in order to determine what form of nature decreases stress best in real-life settings. The project’s goals are to investigate the extent to which socioeconomic health disparities can be decreased by making the best use of the stress-reducing aspects of interaction with nature, as well as to investigate which sorts of nature are most helpful in this respect for those with low socioeconomic status.
Deadline: 5th June 2023

(08) Ph.D. Degree for Reverse Stress testing:
Ph.D. position title: Ph.D. Position for Reverse Stress testing
We intend to establish a reverse method to address supply chain hazards in the proposed research project. Instead of starting with supply chain concerns, this method begins with the conditions under which a supply chain performs well. This technique is influenced by financial risk analysis approaches that became widespread use during the 2008 financial crisis. In this assignment, you will use quantitative models and approaches to better explain and detail this approach. You will work with a variety of food firms with which the ORL group has strong ties, such as food processing and retail.
Deadline: 31 May 2023
(09) Ph.D. Degree in Soil Chemistry:
Ph.D. position summary: Ph.D. for the SoilProS project
Wageningen University’s chair group of Soil Chemistry and Chemical Soil Quality is offering a Ph.D. place in the SoilProS project (Soil Biodiversity analyses for Sustainable Production Systems), which is funded by NWO-TTW (Perspectief program).
Deadline: 29 May 2023
(10) Ph.D. Positions in Communication Science:
Ph.D. position summary/title: Ph.D. position in Communication Science
